The U of G Junior Golf Academy (K-12)

Success in golf as one’s game for a lifetime has no better start than in the developmental years of kindergarten through high school. Starting in 2012 the youth golf programming at the Overland Park golf courses will embrace curriculums from two national programs to better develop golfers for life. The two programs, Junior TPI from the Titleist Performance Institute and The First Tee Program each will be available to young golfers as stand alone programs. But, the physical training and life skills emphasized in these two programs will be an influence in the activities that will be a part of each of our golf specific camps and clinics.

Junior TPI focuses on the athletic development of the student with a long term age appropriate plan to prepare youth for the future. Fun and athleticism are the emphasis with golf a part of the mix. Junior TPI is a great program for any developing athlete and if golf is the sport of choice in later years the preparation, fun and fundamentals will be invaluable.

The First Tee program is different at Overland Park in 2012 than in the past. This year’s offering is the full blown instructional and life skills training associated with the First Tee. Life skills and core values are mixed in with golf skills to develop the young golfer into a golfer of character.

As you can see, this year’s youth golf programs will make every effort to develop and enrich the golfer as well as the game. Read through the program offerings and pick which programming seems to fit your young golfers best. We look forward to sharing golf with them.
